Oh no! The blue farm truck was loaded with pumpkins of every color and shape, but it hit a big bump and the pumpkins escaped! Can you find all six pumpkins and stack them back in the truck bed?

This scavenger hunt features an interactive take-home activity and makes a great passive activity to set out for parties, gatherings, and programming. Players start with the blue truck printable that includes the first clue. Hide the other clues and as many printable pumpkins as needed in the designated hiding places. Hiding places are open-ended and allow for flexability within your environment. For example, hide pumpkin one near something red and pumpkin three near something very small.

This printable includes a blank clue card to write a personalized message on at the end of hunt. Hide a surprise at the end of the hunt (i.e. mini pumpkins, candy, etc.) to add a little extra fun.

Print pages 1-4 on 8.5×11″ paper or cardstock. I recommend cardstock for durability. If you are preparing the hunt for more than one player, each player will need a blue truck printout (pg. 4) and a set of pumpkins 1-6. Page 5 includes extra pumpkins if needed.

Cut out all five clues. You only need one set of clues.

Cut out all six pumpkins. Paper clip each pumpkin to its corresponding clue. For example, pumpkin #1 goes with clue #1. Pumpkin #6 won’t have a clue but you can write a message on the blank card and hide it with that. *If you are preparing this hunt for many players I recommend attaching the clues to envelopes or DIY paper pockets and placing your pumpkins inside.

Hide all clues and pumpkins in hiding places listed.

Give player(s) the farm truck, which has the first clue, to begin the hunt.

As players find each clue and pumpkin, have them glue or tape the pumpkin into the back of the farm truck. Stack them in a pyramid to make them all fit. You can set glue/tape out by each clue, have participants carry a stick of glue with them, or have them glue all the pumpkins at the end.

You can hide a surprise at the end of the hunt with pumpkin #6 or use the blank card to write a message like “Happy Fall” or “Happy Halloween.”

*DIY Paper Pockets

If preparing the hunt for multiple players, I like to make DIY paper pockets for placing the pumpkins inside.

Simply cut a piece of construction paper slightly wider than the width of the clues (about 4 1/2 inches).

Tape or clue the clue to the top of the paper then fold the bottom of the construction paper up just below the clue. Tape the two edge of the construction paper closed, keeping the top open. Be sure to tape the edges well so it doesn’t rip while reaching inside for a pumpkin.

Place your pumpkins inside and that’s it! You can also just tape the clues to an envelope.

Hiding Places

Hiding places are open-ended to allow for flexability. Play at home, in the classroom, outside, etc.

Hide each pumpkin and clue in the following location:

  1. Near something red
  2. On/next to something green
  3. Near something very small
  4. Near something round
  5. Under something soft
  6. Behind a door
